We offer bespoke managed service solutions that give clients the option of having our expert team on-site at their own facility or outsourcing those services to us here at CLS.
Role & Responsibilities
The analyst will work within a laboratory team and undertake the following tasks:
Chemical Analysis for trace contaminants in environmental and seafood samples in accordance with ISO17025 Quality System and validated methodologies. This will primarily relate to determination of mercury and trace metals using CVAFS and ICPMS but also may involve other methods
Sampling and Sub-sampling - Preparation of seafood samples (e.g. dissection, homogenisation, recording sample info) for subsequent chemical analysis. This may involve field work from time to time
Assisting with analytical method troubleshooting as may be required from time to time and assisting in method optimisation and validation to comply with legislative and ISO17025 requirements
Uploading data to SQL database, support for data management and preparation of reports as may be required
Support the implementation of the quality system, including undertaking internal audits
Liaising with third party laboratories and external suppliers and equipment providers
Additional activities supporting the delivery of the above work
Who You Are
A minimum of a Level 8 qualification in a scientific discipline where chemistry is a strong component.
A minimum of 1 year’s relevant analytical laboratory experience.
Experience of working with modern analytical instrumentation, such as hyphenated mass spectrometry techniques. Specifically experience with ICPMS and/or CVAFS would be an advantage.
A good understanding of laboratory quality system, such as ISO17025, and ideally experience in working in such an environment.
A professional, pro-active approach and an ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Be capable of working on own initiative.
Effective communicator, both verbal and written.
Have strong ability to critically review analytical data, excellent attention to detail is a must.
Experience in trace analysis of environmental samples and experience of validation and/or analytical troubleshooting would also be an advantage.
